Budmeisters Walks Last at South Georgia BBQ & Outdoor Festival

Sept 10. 2016; Douglas, GA – Thomas Henry of Budmeisters scored 599.8 out of a possible 600 on his finals round Pulled Pork entry to earn the last call of the day and a $3000 check at the South Georgua BBQ & Outdoor Festival. This is the third year the Georgia Barbecue Association (GBA) has sanctioned the Douglas contest. The first two years, the contest was in the spring and held at the Douglas Municipal Airport. This year, the City of Douglas moved the contest to September to combine it with their very popular Outdoor Hunting Expo. The contest attracted 30 of the top teams in Georgia and Florida.

Grand Champion – Budmeisters

Gary & Dionne Lanton of Holy Smokes made finals in Ribs; took 5th place in Loin and 8th place in Pulled Pork to win $2000 and the Reserve Grand Champion

Reserve Champion – Holy Smokes

There were three perfect 600 scores in the preliminary rounds. Rescue Smokers and Bull Rush BBQ both posted a perfect score in Loin. 92 BBQ Assassin Smokers had a 600 score in Ribs.

First Place Loin & 600 Score – Rescue Smokers

Rescue Smokers won the Pork Loin category with Southern Hogs in 2nd place & Bull Rush BBQ in third. Budmeisters topped the Pulled Pork category followed by Wooley Bully BBQ Mafia in second. Douglas locals Barnyard BBQ, in their first professional cook-off, took 3rd place. In Ribs, Holy Smokes claimed first place with 92 BBQ/Assassin Smokers as runner. Finishing in third place and making GBA finals for the first time was 2 Smokin Phat Boyz.

Smokin the Good Stuff Open New Season with Grand at Smokin Up the Mountains

Sept 3, 2016 East Ellijay, GA – Smoking the Good Stuff scored a perfect 600 score in the Loin preliminary round then followed it up with a near perfect 599.6 score in the Loin final round to capture the Grand Championship at the first Smokin Up the Mountains in East Ellijay.

Rescue Smokers made finals in Ribs along with 4th in Loin and 8th in Pulled Pork to take home the Reserve Grand Championship.

Reserve Grand Champion – Rescue Smokers

Smokin the Good Stuff won the Loin category with We Want Que in second and The Grill Man BBQ Company taking 3rd place. Four 41 South BBQ Company took first place honors in Pulled Pork followed by Daddy O’s BBQ in 2nd & 92 BBQ taking third. Southern Hogs won the Ribs category. Rescue Smokers was the runnerup and Water Hawgs BBQ finished third.

Big Ox BBQ won the Brisket ancillary with a 599.1 score. In the Cooking for Fun Division, East Coast BBQ won Pulled Pork and Napalm Sticks to Pigs won Ribs.

Rescue Smokers Caps Big Season with Grand at Fort Gaines

May 28, 2016 Fort Gaines, GA – Robby Royal and Rescue Smokers scored 599.1 out of a possible 600 points with their Loin final round entry to take the Grand Championship at the 2nd Annual White Oak Pastures BBQ Challenge. Poverty Hill Smokers won both Pulled Pork & Ribs plus had a 7th place in Loin to take home the Reserve Grand Championship.

Just Blowing Smoke added a finals call in Pulled Pork plus 5th place in Ribs to take home the Reserve Grand Championship.
