The Georgia Barbecue Association closed out a banner competition season at Powers Pavilion in Newnan with Pig N Swig.  With a $12,000 purse on the line and a strong field of 31 teams, the competition was expected to be close. No one had any idea how close it would be.

Sauced Hogs Smoke Shack turned in a near perfect Pulled Pork entry in the finals, but so did Bubba Grills in Ribs.  Both teams were just one tick off a perfect score with identical 599.7 scores.  In fact, the scores matched so closely the teams went through 8 levels of the tiebreaker system before Clint Britton’s team edged out Lonnie Smith’s for the Grand Championship on the 9th & last level.  Lead contest rep. Greg Hoyt, was ready to call for a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors if the two teams remained tied.
